Like the song says – “Mama Mia, Here We Go Again” – Mother’s Day is coming up!
Wow, this last year has gone by so quickly! Time to come up with some fun little gifts that Mom would like.
I know that my mom would like the new DVD “Mama Mia – Here we go again!” which you can purchase at our very own Sunrise Records. They also have the first “Mama Mia” DVD. My Mom just loved it. So much fun… and the music by ABBA was great! Shades of the ’70s! I found myself singing along and laughing like a crazy woman. So that is definitely on my “to buy” list, along with the new Queen DVD, “Bohemian Rhapsody” for myself. The rock music of Queen is timeless and if you are a hockey fan like I am, you’ve heard “We are the Champions” and “Another one bites the Dust” at almost every game (depending on whether you’re winning or losing… LOL). And, if you don’t like rocking to the sound of Queen, you have a huge selection of music to choose from whether it be CD’s, music DVD’s or vinyl. Every time I pop in there an hour whiz by before I know it. So many choices…so little time!
Jewellery, of course, is always popular! And nothing tugs at the heartstrings like a “mom” or “grandma” necklace. We have so many places to purchase some beautiful sentimental little treasures, whether you prefer gold or sterling silver. Michael Hill, Ben Moss Jewellers, Peoples Jewellers, & Golden Tree Jewellers are a few of the excellent jewellery stores we have in our shopping centre.
And for those who collect memories, there is Pandora! Where they have a charm for every theme and occasion you can think of. My charm bracelet must weigh about 10 lbs now! And I love every single charm. It’s all about the memories. I think of my “Princess” every time I look at my kitty charm. She was so special!
Perfume is another popular gift and the Perfume Club at Willowbrook has some great vintage scents that are almost impossible to find anywhere else. They carry Femme, a perfume by Marcel Rochas that I adore and haven’t seen in almost 30 years. I would love to get some…HINT…HINT!
If the grandkids are just wanting to get a little something that doesn’t break the bank, check out Carlton Cards. They’ve got gorgeous cards and all kinds of unique items. Mugs, cosmetic bags, and little canvas prints, with funny and sentimental little sayings on them to name a few. There’s nothing like drinking your morning coffee out of a mug that says, “Best Mom” or “Hello Beautiful!”
You can’t go wrong with the always favourite, Chocolate! Yummy… who can say no to chocolate. Whether it is a delicious assortment from Purdys or Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory it will surely please mom. Purdy’s also has a sugar-free line that is very tasty and doesn’t let us diabetics cross the “sugar line.” It is guilt-free!
So I hope this post gives you a few good ideas to make your mom’s or your grandma’s Mother’s Day that much more special. However, if she’s anything like me, just spending time with her is the best gift! Anything else, as my mom used to say, is “icing on the cupcake.” Happy Mother’s Day everyone!
