Say Goodbye To Cold and Flu

February 21

Well, here we are again in the rainy season of the west coast. While we are very lucky not to have the severe weather conditions of many other areas of Canada, the plentiful rain and the chilly temperatures make it the perfect breeding ground for many colds and flu. Of course, everyone chooses to deal with symptoms of cold and flu differently. Some follow their mother’s special advice while others concoct their own treatments to beat the cold.

For those who prefer a more natural way of dealing with these symptoms, head on down to Nutrition House and GNC at Willowbrook! They have got a variety of natural remedies you can try! With herbal supplements and multiple products rich in Vitamin C, Nutrition House features incredible items to help alleviate flu-like symptoms. If you’re into tablets, liquid formulas, chew etc., GNC has got you covered. My “inner child” love the gummy bears they have in-store!

Many people find that a cup of steaming herbal tea with honey or lemon added really helps! GNC has some of the more popular teas such as Echinacea tea, Vitacup tea, and Ginger Root tea. Nutrition House has a wonderful product called Wedderspoon Raw Honey and the Wedderspoon Manuka Honey Drops (they are so soothing and handy to have in your purse!). They also carry EnerC drink packs in many flavors if you’re always on the go! My favorite is peach mango. Yummy!

Of course, grandma’s time-honored remedy is a steaming hot bath or shower. It helps loosen up all the airways and clears the head. And gargling with salt (for its antiseptic properties) or apple cider vinegar always does the trick. Plus, there are menthol rub remedies (like Vicks VapoRub) that have been around forever. Timeless remedies to the rescue!

So, if you’re curious or ready to try some alternative products, pop in to see the staff at Nutrition House or GNC. They are incredibly knowledgeable about their products and you’ll be sure to walk out with tons of information!

Stay Healthy!

Happy, middle aged mom (60 is the new 40... right?) of 2 wonderful children (and extended family) still seeing life through my rose coloured glasses. And that is a choice that I have made... to always try and see the positive in people and situations... and to "pay it forward" whenever I can. It's brought me the most unexpected moments of joy and happiness in return. And my mantra is "you are only as old as you think!" So, as a result, I'm still enjoying my rock concerts, my hockey games and just keeping busy!
