Summer has always been a wonderful time for the younger kids to relax, unwind and enjoy. They are too young to have a summer job, so their summer consists of swimming, biking, day camps and just “hanging out” with their friends on a lazy summer day. For the child, the time seems to go so fast and comes to an end far too soon. For the parents, it can be a bit of a scramble to find daycare, babysitters, or supervised activities for the kids, unless they are lucky enough to have one parent be a stay-at-home parent. Unfortunately, in this day and age that is getting more and more impossible with the cost of living.
Well, now that I’m “off my soapbox”, let’s talk about the reality of getting the kids ready for school. Yikes, what a list!
Luckily most elementary and middle schools have a supply list which consists of all the essential school supplies needed for that year (by grade) for a small fee (pens, pencils, felts, paper, binders, etc.). What a timesaver!
But you are still going to need clothing appropriate for school: t-shirts, jeans, hoodies, shoes, etc.
Some really fun and trendy clothes can be found at Urban Planet, H&M, The Children’s Place, Justice, Mountain Warehouse, and Zumiez.
Check out these logo T’s and denim outfits at H&M …adorable…and so reasonable! Love it!
Justice has some funky stripe and denim combinations, and their leggings and joggers are sooo…comfortable for your girls!
And for those Champion hoodies go no further than Zumiez …they are a favorite store for the skater boys.
Usually, kids grow so fast that the beginning of school almost always means a new pair of shoes or runners. And to last through the year, you will need some quality runners.
Chic Angels has 25 quality brands of shoes for the younger kids, so cute and so colorful!
And Shoe Warehouse has the latest trend – light-up Sketchers.
For the slightly older kids, Blackwell Supply Co. has some funky bright red converse sneakers that I wish were mine!
And for those schools that still have gym class, or if your kids are involved in a team sport, in most cases you will need a pair of really good athletic runners, a pair of shorts, white t-shirt, and a gym bag. Nike, Adidas, and New Balance are a few of the really popular athletic shoes that both – Sport Chek, and Foot Locker have.
Sport Chek has some funky green Nike’s that are making me green with envy! Love them!
Foot Locker has some Adidas ready for the basketball court. Start practicing so you can try out for the team!
Lunch boxes and Backpacks are other necessary items. Because …Yikes!..those books can get really heavy! It’s worth investing in a really good backpack. You want it to, at least, last out the year.
Bentley has the most adorable backpacks! How cute are these for the younger kids! Unicorns are all the rage!
And some colorful and buzzworthy ones for the slightly older child.
And I mustn’t forget Hudson’s Bay, they have clothes, shoes, and backpacks for all ages!
I hope this blog saves you a little time in your search, this is such a busy time of year! Happy hunting!
